The picture with the signature of Glazunov Sotheby

Following a statement by the artist Ilya Glazunov, in which he denied his authorship of the painting «View of the Kremlin», exhibited as the work of Glazunov's Sotheby's auction in June 10, 2008, attribution of work has changed. Now the signature of the catalog reads: «Russian school. XX century ». Notably, the estimeyt picture has not changed and remains at 8-12 thousand pounds sterling (16-24 thousand dollars).

As the head of Sotheby's Russian department Joanna Vickery, the London auction house has decided not to withdraw from the sale of the picture and signature «Ilya Glazunov», which the author himself denies Glazunov. She explained that following the complaint of Glazunov's the auction house asked the current owner of the painting - a collector from Germany - additional information about how he acquired this picture. German collector conveyed in the auction house a copy of the exhibition and catalog sales in Germany in spring 1979. At that time in West Berlin, the Russian Culture Week was held with the exhibition and sale of works of Soviet artists. Glazunov and his wife Nina attended the event as guests and even have the autographs on the cover of the catalog.
