Special surprises are waiting for and departing from the airport passengers. ⠀ Russian airports were assigned the names of compatriots who have made significant contributions to the development and history of our country by popular vote in the framework of the project "Great names of Russia". The competition was held in 4 stages and completed in December 2018. The names were chosen according to the results of surveys and online-голосований. In voting for a name for the airport of Simferopol was attended by more than 270,000 people. 53% of the votes were cast for the assignment of airport Simferopol named after Ivan Aivazovsky.

And yesterday for the occasion at the Simferopol airport the name of I. K. Aivazovsky, a solemn ceremony. Soon the airport will be decorated with reproductions of paintings by the famous artist, who was born, lived and died in the Crimea.

While in the airport managed to make a photo zone, where passengers can take pictures on the background of the painting "Among the waves". And for children there is a design with blocks, which can be collected from two paintings by Aivazovsky. But the airport will soon be transformed stronger. The Director of Feodosia art gallery named after I. K. Aivazovsky Tatiana Hayduk gave the airport a copy of the picture of Aivazovsky's "ships at anchor", and the head of the Crimea gave a letter to the maternal great-granddaughter of the artist Amanda Rogers.
