By the decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin at the Simferopol International airport today has the name of the artist Ivan Aivazovsky. ⠀ This is a very important event. The solemn ceremony devoted to the naming of I. K. Aivazovsky, will be held at the airport soon. At the ceremony, including a presentation of the project new items that will appear on the territory of the terminal and will acquaint the visitors with the personality of the artist and his work. Special surprises are waiting for and departing from the airport passengers. ⠀ Russian airports were assigned the names of compatriots who have made significant contributions to the development and history of our country by popular vote in the framework of the project "Great names of Russia". The competition was held in 4 stages and completed in December 2018. The names were chosen according to the results of surveys and online-голосований. In voting for a name for the airport of Simferopol was attended by more than 270,000 people. 53% of the votes were cast for the assignment of airport Simferopol named after Ivan Aivazovsky.

And yesterday for the occasion at the Simferopol airport the name of I. K. Aivazovsky, a solemn ceremony. Soon the airport will be decorated with reproductions of paintings by the famous artist, who was born, lived and died in the Crimea.

While in the airport managed to make a photo zone, where passengers can take pictures on the background of the painting "Among the waves". And for children there is a design with blocks, which can be collected from two paintings by Aivazovsky. But the airport will soon be transformed stronger. On the fourth floor in the recreation area will be a rotating exhibition stands with reproductions. Aivazovsky's paintings will print on the boarding pass. Station square will also be decorated with paintings of seascapes and besides it will be a monument to Aivazovsky.

During the official part with welcome speeches made by the head of the Crimea Sergey Aksenov, first Deputy Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea Efim Fix, the Chairman of the Public chamber of the Republic of Crimea Grigory Ioffe, who specially arrived to the Crimea from Australia, the maternal great-granddaughter of Aivazovsky – Amanda Rogers and the Director General of Simferopol International airport Yevgeny Plaksin. The Director of Feodosia art gallery named after I. K. Aivazovsky Tatiana Hayduk gave the airport a copy of the picture of Aivazovsky's "ships at anchor", and the head of the Crimea gave a letter to the maternal great-granddaughter of the artist Amanda Rogers.
