the Fall art auctions from the new-Йорка to Hong Kong brought new records in our rankings of world and Russian artists. All records are recorded at auction at Christie's or Sotheby's, so I believe it is safe. Let us begin with world artists.
11-ю line deal with the work of "Chop Suey" (1929) built a classic American painting by Edward hopper (1882-1967). The sale price of scene in a Chinese diner was $91,875 million, the auction of American art from the collection of Barney Ebsworth 13 November 2018.
And right behind him, 12-м place located David Hockney (1937) — are the only living authors included in the rating of world artists (in the ranking of living authors Hockney with the same number, of course, to 1-м place). For $90,3 million, a textbook work of David Hockney "portrait of the artist. Pool with two figures" (1972) went at Christie's auction on 15 November 2018.
Updated the best auction result and Willem de Kooning (1904-1997): $68.9 million were sold his work "Woman as landscape" (1954-1955) at Christie's on November 13 (the same auction, where the record was set by Edward hopper). In the end, De Kooning now 25-е that certainly "not enough to be" considering staying all hearsay private sales of his works at $200-300 million.
First came to our world rating of artists of the Uji Zhao (1921-2013) — abstract painter of Chinese origin, which became his as well as at home and in France, where he lived most of his life. His abstract 10-метровый triptych "June — October 1985" at a Sotheby's auction in Hong Kong was sold for a record $65.2 million With this result, Zhao Uji came to 26-ю place ranking, just for De Kooning.
Now about Russian artists (if not in fact creative, then certainly in origin). A native of the Russian Empire, Tamara de Lempicka (1898-1980) has updated its auction record at Christie's auction in new-Йорке 11 November 2018: "the Musician" (1929) was sold a little more than $9 million. place in the ranking of the artist while retaining the old — 12-е.
And finally, on the Russian bid Sotheby's 27 November 2018 for a record $5,468 million wassold the work of Konstantin Makovsky's "the Game of hide and seek". With this result Konstantin Egorovich rose 23-ю place.
