As long as the ban applies only to the territory of Mexico. But soon the relatives of the artist are going through the American court to ban the sale of dolls Frida and the rest of the world

the Doll company Mattel in the image of artist Frida Kahlo appeared on the shelves of children's stores this spring in a series of "Inspiring women" International women's day on 8 March. The series also includes dolls of the first women-пилота Amelia Earhart and the American physicist and mathematician Katherine Johnson. To them no questions arose, unlike Frida.

the Doll of Frida Kahlo did not like her Grand-niece Mar de Anda Romeo. "It was supposed to be a much more Mexican doll, with more dark skin, unibrow, not so thin, because Frida was so skinny... dressed in authentic Mexican clothing, Mexican jewelry", — believes a relative of the artist. By the way, against the transformation of Frida doll made what is probably the most famous Mexican actress in Hollywood Salma Hayek. According to the actress who played Frida in the 2002 movie, "Frida Kahlo has never tried anyone-то to emulate. She was the embodiment of their own uniqueness. How could they turn it into a Barbie?".

But the criticism in the press of Mar de Anda Romeo decided they were not satisfied and filed suit in a Mexican court, claiming that Mattel had rights to use the image of Frida for the doll.

Mattel, in turn, alleges that it purchased the rights to manufacture dolls in the image of Frida in "Frida Kahlo Corporation" which, in turn, in 2005 bought the rights to commercial use of the name Kahlo, one of the nieces Isolde Frida Kahlo Pineda (Pineda Isolda Kahlo). "Frida Kahlo Corporation actively participated in the development of the image of the doll, Mattel has had its permission and legal contract to allow the use of image dolls great Frida Kahlo", — mentioned in the press-релизе Mattel to release a doll.

the Mexican court, however, sided with Mara de Anda Romeo. Last week a High Court judge in Mexico city has imposed a temporary judicial ban on the sale of a doll of Frida in Mexico, based on the assumption that a Panamanian company Frida Kahlo Corporation may not have legal grounds to sell the rights to use the image of Frida company Mattel. Mara de Anda Romeo and her lawyers are celebrating an intermediate win, but to stop there is not going to. The next step — a lawsuit in an American court.
