The Grabar centre announced that the new exhibition space dedicated to the Russian icon, will open February 20, 2018 at the following address: Prechistensky pereulok, 5A

Artist, restorer and researcher of ancient art Adolf Nikolaevich Ovchinnikov in 1960-90-е years, worked in the expeditions and was engaged in the study and copying of monumental painting. He carefully reproduced the frescoes of the VIII — XV centuries from eight churches. Among them is St. George Church in Staraya Ladoga; the Church of the Transfiguration on Ilyina street in Veliky Novgorod, where in 1378 worked Theophanes; Church of Georgia — St. George in Achi and the monastic complex of cave temples in Sabereebi, two of which are partially lost, so that copies-реконструкции Ovchinnikova give the opportunity to present these monuments in their original form. The exhibition presents tracings (tracings of murals, carefully taken directly from paintings) and a full-sized copy of-реконструкции made in the material, loved the author, and photographs on the history of "Iconotheca".

Ikonoteka Ovchinnikov will be the first in Russia Museum of frescoes in order to explore the unique monuments in one place, without leaving the capital. In the former workshop of Vera Mukhina was repaired dismantled late in the partition that did not exist when Mukhina, restored skylights on the roof, which together with the panoramic window gave much needed natural light sculptor.
