From 14 to 22 October in the Central House of artists will host 43 Russian Antique Salon
The paintings of the old masters and jewelry, monuments of iconography, Imperial and Soviet porcelain, paintings of domestic realistic school and Eastern bronze — all this will find place in the current exhibition
for more than 20 years, the Salon has attracted domestic and foreign antique dealers, allowing to trace the relationship of generations in a culture, continuity and inherited tradition.
43 Special exposition of the Russian Antique Salon — "Russian icon of the Silver age"
In the framework of the Special project 43 Antique Salon will be presented the most interesting works of the Silver age of Russian icon painting.
the Beginning of the XX century in the history of Russian culture called the Silver age. Born in the environment of Russian emigration, forced to leave Russia during the revolutionary events, this term accurately describe the latest high flowering of art in the Russian Empire, which was for a short time before her death. Few people know that, along with literature, philosophical thought and painting, his remarkable rise in the beginning of the century have survived and the Russian national art — iconography. The first successes of scientific restoration was opened to Russian society the beauty of the artistic language of the ancient Russian icons. Great impression of the ancient aesthetics of the image produced by artists working in the field of ecclesiastical art, bringing in paintings and decorative-прикладном art has developed a new style, harmoniously combining traditional forms with contemporary artistic ideas of his time. This art was the result of a long process of finding a new language to Russian icon, which began at the turn of XVIII–XIX centuries. And if not for the revolutionary events, for many decades, interrupted the development of icon painting in Russia, it is obvious that this area of the Church fine arts belonged to the future.
In the framework of the Special project 43 Antique Salon will be presented the most interesting works of the Silver age of Russian icon painting from private collections. Special attention among them deserve the signature works of the leading painters-новаторов the beginning of the century — Nikolay Emelyanov and Alexey Ashurova, in whose works the attempt of revival of traditional iconography in the beginning was the most compelling. Also will be exhibited the works of other interesting artists who were in constant search of new forms, such as Jacob Bogatenko.
In unexpected colors and composite constructions, free and meaningful at the same time using the traditional iconography of the icons of the early XX century reflected the influence of the art Nouveau style, brightly declared itself in the ecclesiastical painting of V. M. Vasnetsov and M. V. Nesterov in 1880-е years. However, painters of a new direction in General sought to avoid painting techniques peculiar to these artists, preferring the traditional tempera technique and conventional artistic language.
In the decorative art of the early XX century landmark was the work of S. I. Vaskova — chief artist of the Moscow Association "P. I. Olovyanishnikov sons", specializing in the manufacturing of Church utensils, vestments and Church decoration. In his work the shape of ancient, early Christian and Byzantine art in harmony with motifs of art Nouveau. Central to the stand will occupy a Suite of furniture (buffet, dining table, chairs, benches), created in Abramtsevo workshops on sketches by the outstanding artist Elena Dmitrievna Polenova (1850-1898). Decoration of the stand will be a rare cloth, created by craftsmen Talashkino.
