Seized from the Italian mafia paintings of van Gogh returned to the Museum
Two paintings stolen in 2002 and was found near Naples in 2016-м, will return home
The painting "view of the sea at Scheveningen" and "Congregation comes out of the reformed Church in Nyuenene" painted by Vincent van Gogh were stolen from the Museum of the artist in Amsterdam on 7 December 2002. Two robbers early this morning got into the Museum by a ladder, broke the glass and made one work. The attackers soon caught and put in jail, but the movie had to look for more ten years.
On the trail of van Gogh's paintings were attacked in 2010. It became known that the robbery was committed by order of the Neapolitan Camorra. Six years later, van Gogh was finally found in the investigation, associated with the traffic of cocaine and gangsterism. The stolen paintings were discovered in a Villa in the area of Castellammare-ди-Стабия in the Bay of Naples.
After the authentication and settle all formalities, the work can finally go to Amsterdam's van Gogh Museum. The Museum Director said that now they are completely busy preparing for the return of the paintings home.
