19 may in Moscow the auction house Sotheby's will hold up to the public pre-show works of Russian art of the twentieth century. Auction itself will be held in London on 7 June 2016.
the Exhibition, comprising paintings of the XIX century, the sketches for productions of "Russian ballet", Faberge and the work of several leading artists-нонконформистов second half of the twentieth century, and traces the important periods in the history of Russian art over the last two hundred years.
the Works are three categories of trades: Russian painting, Russian art, Faberge and icons. And Modern East — auction dedicated to post-war art in Central Europe, Eastern Europe and CIS countries and including works by artists rarely or never exhibited at auction outside of their countries.

the Scion of an ancient Russian family General@Mily ndashлейтенант Miljevic Anichkov were in a narrow range very close to the Imperial court. The rank of General Anichkov received in 1906 and was one of the few among the higher officers, who remained loyal to the Royal family until the very end. According to the memoirs of one of his contemporaries, it was a man "of small stature and frail physique, ironic, [since] the undisputed talent of the comedian and purely Russian ingenuity". Snuff-box was presented with the Anichkov in Moscow in may, 1913, at celebrations to mark 300-летия of the Romanov dynasty. In accordance with his high rank Anichkov was one of the most expensive Faberge cigarette cases, made by order of the Imperial Chancellery. Six months later, in November 1913, the General returned the case to the office, which earned him 650 rubles. There was nothing reprehensible: the return of gifts is not just encouraged by the Emperor as a delicate way of monetary reward subjects for their special merits before Fatherland.
Russian painting
One of the last masterpieces of Shishkin created in 1898, a year before his death. This view of the surroundings of the city, was probably written after the last visit by the artist to his native places. The picture presented in 1897 by 25-й the exhibition of the Peredvizhniki group in St. Petersburg and Moscow, was bought by the nephew of the artist, the gold mining and philanthropist Nicholas D. Stakheev. After the revolution, the family emigrated Staheevy in Paris, their property was nationalized, and this picture was among the little that was able to take with you. Sketch by Boris Anisfeld for the production of "Sadko in 1911, the "Russian ballet" Diaghilev. For the first time the work was shown in 1912 at the exhibition "World of art" in Saint-Петербурге and printed in the form of postcards. Up to the present time was in a private collection.
In this work captures the emergence of Catherine the great in the Picture gallery of the Catherine Palace in Tsarskoye Selo, where the Empress arrived at Easter. The piece is created in 1951 as a version of 1906, which, most likely, was commissioned by the artist for school textbook "Pictures of Russian history".
Goncharova gave this painting to the sons of the owner of the gallery, Mayfair, with whom I worked on a group exhibition at the end of 1957. Since then it has remained in their collection.
Raymond Henniker-Хитон was Director of the Art Museum in Worcester, Massachusetts, where in early 1923 was an exhibition of works Grigorieva. The portrait was painted during the second visit of the artist in the USA in the same year.
Modern East
These works, acquired directly from the artists and never before exhibited for sale, come from the collection of Anna and Stephen Tatishev, who lived in the early 1970-х years in Russia. Being the cultural attaché at the French Embassy in Moscow (1971-1974), Stefan was able to organize an illegal channel for the export of dissident samizdat and other materials from the USSR. Anna and Stephen have assembled a collection of works by leading representatives of the Soviet recusancy, making thereby a significant contribution to the relief of the Russian emigration, dissidence and unofficial art in the Soviet Union.
This work, acquired directly from the artist by its current owner in 1995, depicts the legendary battle of 1795, when 300 warriors of the inhabitants of the Aragvi gorge, fought to the death defending Tbilisi from the advancing army of Persians.
