meeting of the Expert Council of the XI all-Russian competition in contemporary visual art INNOVATION 2015, passed February 15, 2016 at the national centre for contemporary arts (NCCA), has finished with an unexpected solution. The Advisory Council left Ilya Dolgov, artist, co-founder of Voronezh center for contemporary art, Dmitry Ozerkov, art historian, curator, head of contemporary art at the State Hermitage, and Anna Tolstova, art critic, art critic, regular contributor to "Kommersant" due to the fact that the NCCA rejected the application on the nomination of the work of Peter Pavlenkova "Threat" in the nomination "Work of visual art". The remaining members of the Expert Council in connection with the rejection by the organizers of the competition applications Peter Pavlenkova decided to refrain from voting in the nomination "Work of visual art".

Mikhail Mindlin, General Director of NCCA, "According to the regulations of the competition, the organizers have the right to reject any submitted application. We had rejected the application for the extension of the work of Peter Pavlenkova “Threat” in the nomination “Work of visual art”. In this case we are talking about work, during which the action was committed with obvious signs of violations of law and caused material damage. The refusal of the application not associated with a professional assessment of the work. Extension work, in which the law was violated, the contest, held by the state organization and held under the auspices and with the support of the Ministry of culture of the Russian Federation, it seems to us unacceptable. In the end, after the rejection of the nomination of the work of Peter Pavlenkova the discussion, the Expert Council decided not to vote in this nomination and as a result, this year the prize in the nomination “Work of visual art” will not be awarded. We are very sorry that the works of other artists, which were submitted in this nomination, lost the opportunity to participate in the competition".
