On a British beach has buried 30 gold bars

German artist Michael Sailstorfer as part of his art project invited residents and visitors to Folkestone found buried on the beach gold bullion. The task is complicated by the regular tides, bringing to the site, new layers of sand

On the beach of the British port town of Folkestone, in Kent, was a real gold rush, thanks to an art project by German artist Michael Sailstorfer (Michael Sailstorfer). Within the Folkestone triennial of contemporary art at the beach were buried 30 gold bars with a total value of up to 10 thousand pounds. Every day, with the beginning of low tide, anyone can try their luck in the field zolotoiskatelem@

Ingots of different sizes, and not like those that usually show in movies about the robbery. However, the cost of each such piece of gold is a few hundred pounds, and if you found it — it's yours. "Someone is lucky, and some don't: that's life," says philosophically Triennale curator Lewis Biggs@

For Biggs as curator for the intriguing question: what will you do lucky found with gold — whether they will suffer it at a pawn shop or at Sotheby's as a work of art? Or maybe, hoisted his ingot on the mantelpiece in the hope that over time it will rise in price?

Art project of Sailstorfer called "Folkestone excavations" and the funds allocated to it by the sponsors from Bristol — producing center Situations. Center Director Claire Doherty hopes that this temporary project will be remembered no less than some fixed installations, which are more likely to sponsorship money. What else can captivate the audience, as the quest for gold?

Daily excavation by themselves will turn the beach into a work of land art, disappearing with each new tide. And to keep track of those who try to use the metal detector on the beach also buried metal objects. "This work could go on forever, because nobody will know whether all the ingots was found. Many would not say, even if you find gold," says the curator Biggs@

Michael Sailstorfer offers to look with different eyes at the usual places. The artist chose Folkestone beach-scene interactive project, because once this place was considered a prestigious resort. The beach was associated with wealthy tourists, it was a source of wealth for goroda@
