lower George always knew that his father was a criminal. Knew in 1955, Thomas Francis Connelly (Thomas Francis Connelly) was stolen from Chase Manhattan Bank 300 thousand dollars. He fled from the police with his wife and two children, George and his sister Veronica. Then the children had to drop out. Two of George's mother left in the Church, assuring him that he would soon be back. A couple was never caught, and George and his sister never saw more parents. Their adopted mother's sister, they grew up in her family and did not even know that in 1962 the artist Andy Warhol used the image of their father from the police archive in the series of silkscreen "13 most wanted criminals".
This cycle was intended for the decoration of the pavilion of the state of new York world's fair 1964. Along with Warhol on this pavilion worked for Robert Rauschenberg and James Rosenquist. However, the 13 portraits of criminals from police reports was deemed too provocative and shortly after the opening of the pavilion they were painted silver paint. Warhol not even upset, he felt the silver paint is very symbolic — "it is nothing, making everything disappear". He made copies of the portraits that went to collections in different parts of the world. Today nine of these thirteen portraits again gathered together at the exhibition in the Museum of Art, Queens, dedicated to the 50th anniversary of world vystavki@
What a surprise it was George loera when he after so many years came across a portrait of his father in the article about the exhibition at the Queens Museum. Foster parents once police showed him the brochure "Most wanted criminals", where among other was his father. George had no idea that Andy Warhol used a photograph of Thomas Francis Connelly from this booklet to create works of art. To see the portrait with his own eyes, he with his wife went to the exhibition from a neighboring state.
