Culture Minister Vladimir Medina yesterday announced the launch of the International Competition for the development of the architectural concept of the National Centre for Contemporary Arts (NCCA).

« We announce the launch of two important trends in the development of the Centre, - the minister said. - In December, we should get, and the concept and design of the building, which will win in open competition ».

Medina recalled that in 2009 it was decided to establish a museum and exhibition complex in the NCCA . In September 2012 the Public Council appealed to the Ministry of Culture Medinsky with a request to "suspend the implementation of the project of the museum and exhibition center NCCA on Bauman Street, to hold an open architectural competition for designing the NCCA with the involvement of a competent organizer of such competitions and with the inclusion of the jury members of the Public Council."

in December 2012 in cooperation with the Government of Moscow, it was decided that the new building will be located on the territory of the NCCA Khodynsky field, and the author of his architectural concept will be defined by means of an open international competition. In June 2013 the board of trustees was created NCCA, co-chaired by Vladimir Medina and Acting Mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin. The competition is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, as well as the Committee for Architecture and Urban Planning of the City of Moscow. The head of the jury - Sergei Kuznetsov.

The Minister stressed that the competition will be international. "But we'll be rooting for the Russian, I would like to win our", - said Medina. He hopes that the NCCA will be "bright national center for world-class».
