Yesterday the mayor of Venice, Giorgio Orsoni and the General Director of the State Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky signed an agreement on the future of Cultural and Scientific Foundation "Hermitage-Italy».

The main objectives of the Fund "Hermitage-Italy": promotion of research activities in order to further cataloging collections of Italian art in the Hermitage, the creation of the center documentation on the history of collecting in Italy in respect of the Hermitage collection, organization of conferences and seminars on relevant topics, as well as internships and fellowships for advanced training for the staff of the Hermitage and other Russian museums, cultural institutions in Italy and Europe, a publication of the results obtained on the basis of research projects determined by the Committee on Science Fund "Hermitage-Italy».
Italian side appreciated the Fund's contribution to the development of Russian-Italian relations in the field of science and art. The Fund has supported 90 scholars from Russia, Italy, and several European countries. Published four collections of Italian Hermitage Museum, organized several international conferences, materials which are published regularly. The Fund has helped to organize 26 exhibitions in Russia and Italy.
Deputy Minister of Economy of Italy Barrett said that the Italian government highly values the work of the Fund and intends to continue to consider him support one of its priorities.
