to the Tate Gallery in preparing a major exhibition Laurence Stephen Lowry (1887-1976) on the back of one of the paintings had been found previously known work. Laurie is known primarily for his landscapes industrial England - scenes of life of workers on their way to the enterprise, the strikers, playing soccer, walking at fairs, etc. All these people are depicted in their everyday environment, including high-rise buildings, city buildings and factories. The unique style of Lowry distinguishes intentional simplification and some schematization that many confuse the lack of professionalism and therefore belong to the Lowry naive artists. However, this is not the case. And finding the rough draft on the back of one of the paintings confirms that the artist could repeatedly refer to the same subject, striving to achieve the best result.
Sketch, question, was created about 1922 and is an early version of the two more recent works Lauri "Town Square" (1928, now lost) and "Our Town" (1941), depicting his native Salford. The sketch was discovered in the back of the painting "The Missionary Room" (1937) from the collection of the Art Gallery of Leamington Spa. Now the unknown work exhibited as part of a retrospective at the Tate Gallery Lauri. In total, the exhibition presents about 90 works by the artist.
