Established in 1982, Timur Novikov group "New Artists "was a vibrant creative community where each member put together all in one artist, musician, actor, poet and writer, and with the appearance of their company director Yevgeny Yufit parallel cinema - even movie actor.

In 1985, the "New" artists became famous Leningrad rock club, (in the exhibitions of his paintings showed Viktor Tsoi) and participated in public speeches orchestra "Pop-Mechanics" Sergei Kuryokhin. Their energy is inspired by Sergei Solovyov creating iconic film restructuring "Assa" (gallery of the same name, held in a room in a communal Timur Novikov), with Sergei Bugaev in the title role and Viktor Tsoi in supporting roles.

Exhibition "New Coming!" in the MMSI is about 100 works "New Artists" from the Museum (SRM, TG) and private collections in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The exhibition includes paintings, drawings, murals, collages, author books, mail art, film and video, as well as literary works "New Artists". Each section of the exhibition is accompanied by annotations and historical documentary archive material.
