In this Friday, Dec. 7, in the small hall of the NCCA will be showing a documentary film by Corinna Belz of Gerhard Richter. The movie is in German with English subtitles and simultaneous interpretation into Russian. Co-organizer: The Goethe Institute in Moscow.

film "The Artist Gerhard Richter" (Germany, 2011, 97 min.) - A documentary portrait of one of the most important German artists of our time. Painter who tries to stay away from the publicity and media attention, allows us to enter into the holy of holies - the workshop. We witness his daily work and have the opportunity to watch the process of training and the creation of works of the artist to listen to comments and see how it evaluates the completed picture. The film, whose characters are not so much Richter, his assistants, gallery owners and critics, as his works.

Gerhard Richter was born in 1932 in Dresden. In 1952-1956 he studied at the College of Fine Arts in Dresden. In 1961 he emigrated to West Germany, he continued his studies at the Düsseldorf Academy of Art (1961-1963). Richter's first exhibition was held in 1963 in Dusseldorf. In 1972 he represented Germany at the Venice Biennale (then for the first time the existence of a Biennale pavilion was given to one artist). In the same year he took part in Kassel "Paper-5". Richter's works are included in the collections of major museums in Europe.

For almost five decades Gerhard Richter is one of the most influential artists of the world scale. Name 80-year-old masters usually mentioned together with the mandatory definition of "best": the most successful, the most expensive, the most famous. Critics call it "Picasso XXI Century" and in the lifetime ranked him the classics.
