"Rhapsody in Red"

In London, a new "temple of art" - though a temporary one. Earlier this month, opened the Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens summer pavilion, which was designed by famous French architect Jean Nouvel (Jean Nouvel). This elegant, angular building is fully implemented in a bright scarlet color - Glensi Jonathan (Jonathan Glancey) of the Guardian newspaper even called him a "rhapsody in red. Red, it was decided to make all the content of the pavilion - chairs and tables in a cafe, hammocks, table tennis and even entertaining such trifles as kites, balls and frisbee. What inspired the architect of this creation? "There are moments when the summer sun catches your eye, and blinking, you feel that the whole world dissolves into the red." Of course, the design is also a dedication to London, whose "firm" color is red: remember the famous double-decker buses and phone booths.

Summer Pavilion Serpentine - is not only a place to rest. There are lectures and performances, as well as "Marathon", which suits the gallery director, curator Hans Ulrich Obrist (Hans Ulrich Obrist). This 24-hour event dedicated to artistic experimentation, discussions and poetry.

works of art in the pavilion also demonstrated - for example, there now hang photos the Luxembourg gardens, made famous philosopher and friend Nouvel Jean Baudrillard (Jean Baudrillard).

far from the pavilion stands a small white box, in which anyone can make audio recordings of his own heart beating. It will be added to the Archive of hearts ", which was five years collected by the project, the French artist Christian Boltanski (Christian Boltanski). He plans to take this "collection" in Japan and put it in a special museum on the uninhabited island Tesima.

Serpentine Gallery is a nonprofit. Summer pavilion, it sets since 2000. Each of them must necessarily be designed by renowned architect, with nothing before that in England not being built. Among the authors of pavilions past - Zaha Hadid (Zaha Hadid), Daniel Libeskind (Daniel Libeskind), Oscar Niemeyer (Oscar Niemeyer) and Frank Gehry (Frank Gehry).
