"Regina" opens branch in London
The first artist whose works will be shown in the new gallery will be Simon Faibisovich
One of Moscow's leading galleries of contemporary art, "Regina" at the end of this month opens a new exhibition space in London. Gallery will occupy two floors in the building of the nineteenth century, which was once used for warehouses (address: 22 Eascastle Street, District Fittsroviya). Director of the gallery began Romilly Eveli (Romilly Eveleigh) and Anya McKessie (Anya Mackessy).
«Regina was founded by Vladimir Ovcharenko and Regina in 1990. More than once she has participated in major art fairs like Frieze, Art Basel Miami Beach and The Armory Show. The works of artists the gallery exhibited at Kassel "Document", the Biennale in Sao Paulo and Venice Biennale.
the very beginning of its existence, "Regina" has proved itself as a platform for daring artistic experimentation. Spouses Ovcharenko supported radical projects of Moscow aktsionistov, such as Oleg Kulik (which, incidentally, in the 1990's spent several years as art director of the gallery), and organized exhibitions legends Soviet Conceptualism ( Ivan Chuikova , Andrew Monastyrskoye ) and new artists ( Paul Pepperstein , Oleg Golosiy ). "Regina" exhibited and foreign art, and very well-known authors - Gabriel Orozco (Gabriel Orozco), Mike Kelly (Mike Kelley), and others. Now picture some 30 wards from Russia, Ukraine, USA, Germany and France.
first event, staged by London's "Regina", will be the exhibition of the Moscow-Photo-Realist painter Seeds Faibisovich , entitled" Les Miserables ". It will open on April 30 and will run until May 29. In June the gallery will show the work of Paul Pepperstein, and in July - the work of young artists in Berlin.
