Henry Moore created the "Butterfly" in 1984 in honor of 750 anniversary of Berlin. In 1987 it was placed opposite the House of World Cultures, which then served as the Congress Centre. This building is available from Berlin for its shape nicknamed "pregnant oyster", in 1957 gave the city the Americans in the exhibition Interbau. Now it houses the German National Center for non-European modern art: there are exhibitions, film screenings, theatrical and dance performances, lectures, concerts and conferences.
