The heirs of the owner of paintings of Emil Nolde agreed with the museum
Stockholm's Moderna Museet and the heirs of Jewish businessman Otto Nathan Doetsch (Otto Nathan Deutsch) finally came to an agreement on the restitution of paintings of Emil Nolde (Emil Nolde) «Blooming Garden in Utenvarfe».
As previously reported , one of the solutions to the problem was to attract the heirs of the sponsor, ready to buy the work and lend it to the museum for 3-5 years, with possibility of extension. Moderna Museet was prepared to accept this proposal only if the picture odolzhat for 10-20 years. These conditions have been slightly adjusted and satisfy the interests of both parties. Under the contract, the work of Nolde museum purchased from a private collector from Europe, whose name is not called. It provides its Moderna Museet for display at five years, and after this period will give the museum the other works on the same term. The amount that the collector had paid for the creation of Nolde, not reported.
Otto Nathan Deutsch fled from Frankfurt to Amsterdam in late 1938 or the beginning of 1939, leaving Germany in its collection of works of art. The work he was supposed to deliver the kind of German transport company. But somehow the picture had not been sent. Deutsch died in 1943, without seeing their treasures. After the war, representatives of the transport company said the relatives of the businessman, that all works were killed in the bombing of Frankfurt.
In 1962, the heirs Doetsch received from West Germany, compensation equivalent to 1 000 dollars. And in 1978 they learned that two paintings by Nolde, entrance into the assembly, survived. One of them, «Blooming Garden in Utenvarfe», and was discovered in the Moderna Museet.
And the heirs, and representatives of the museum are very happy outcome of this case, lingering on for seven years, because relatives of Otto Nathan Doetsch, requested a return of paintings in 2002. The parties agreed to refrain from further comment.
