The Russian Ministry of Culture intends to take part in the formation of the collection of the Museum of Modern Art (GMSI), based on National Center for Contemporary Art (NCCA) and is ready to procure for him the work Demiena Hirst, brothers Jake and Dinos Chepmenov. Those names led to the RIA Novosti, citing Leonid Bazhanov, artistic director of the NCCA. Of the message the agency shows that «a substantial amount» for the purchase has already been allocated.
Director-General of the NCCA Mikhail Mindlin said that there was a so-called pre-proposal on the architecture of future buildings, designed in the workshop of Michael Hazanova, but the final appearance of the new museum should identify the competition. «Now one thing is clear: it will be a building area of 25 thousand square meters and not more than 20 floors», - quoting Mindlin said. The amount required for the construction of the museum will be decided after a public inquiry. Estimated project costs in the prices of 2007 amounted to 3 billion rubles. Entering a building will take place no earlier than 2014-2015 years.

College of the Ministry of Culture officially announced a policy decision to create an international museum in Moscow on 24 July 2009.
