British and American museums acquire Twitter

A list of the most popular online Twitter museums led the New York Museum of Modern Art

Recently, a British web site Museum Marketing ( http://www.museummarketing.co.uk ) has published a list of the most popular pages in the network Twitter, owned by museums. In the first place was mikroblog the New York Museum of Modern Art (MOMA). He has more than 29 thousand subscribers ( «Friends»). However, in ranking the most popular «tvitteryan», published on the site Twitterholic. com , the museum is located somewhere in the middle of the second thousand. At the time of this writing the list was headed by Hollywood actor Ashton Katcher (Ashton Kutcher), a blog on which signed nearly 2.5 million users.

In the first five museums came to Brooklyn Museum (almost 24 thousand subscribers), Tate Gallery (15,2 thousand), the Getty Museum in Los Angeles (11.2 thousand) and Museum of Women in Dallas ( 8,8 thousand). Since the first three are obvious, but how come that a little-known Museum of Women (a subsidiary of the Washington Smithsonian) avoided such famous institutions as the Metropolitan Museum and the British Museum? Perhaps this sudden success was that the Museum of Women is constantly signed on someone's blog. The number of «tvitteryan», added his «friends», exceeds the number of its subscribers. On the contrary, the more well-known museums, which do not need any special, do not seek to attach as many users as possible: MOMA subscribed to 728 blogs, Brooklyn Museum - at 449, and the Tate Gallery - at 26. Getty Museum, however, adds to the «friends» almost all of its subscribers, and for many, this makes a good impression.
