Rijksmuseum promised to open by 2013
Amsterdam Rijksmuseum, which since 2003 is being reconstructed, is scheduled to open in early 2013
Amsterdam Rijksmuseum, where the masterpieces by Vermeer, Frans Hals and Rembrandt (including the famous «Night Watch»), due to open after reconstruction in the first half of 2013, for two and a half years later than planned previously.
Back in December 2003, the premises of the Rijksmuseum was closed for repairs, which should have been completed by the end of 2010. But early last year between the Government of the Netherlands and the largest Dutch construction company Royal BAM Groep NV, repairers, disagreements arose about the cost of the project, so work was suspended.
Now, as reported in the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture of the Netherlands, the government hired a new contractor - a company JP van Eesteren BV, which will complete the renovation of the building.
