The Swiss scientist said that the famous bust of Nefertiti - Counterfeiting
Art historian Henry Shtirlin contends that the sculpture was done in the early twentieth century artist by the name of Marx Gerardt
Recently, the Swiss art historian Henry Shtirlin (Henri Stierlin) said that the famous bust of Egyptian queen Nefertiti, held in Berlin's Old Museum, is a forgery. According to Shtirlina, the sculpture was done by an artist named Gerardt Marx (Gerardt Marks) to order archaeologist Ludwig Borchardt (Ludwig Borchardt). December 6, 1912 a German prince admired a bust of Nefertiti, considering that before the eyes of this ancient artifact, and Borchardt did not have the spirit to confess that the sculpture forged.
What evidence leads Henry Shtirlin in defense of his theory? In his words, historians should be in a on take more suspicion to the fact that the sculptures do not have one eye - the Egyptians would not create a one-eyed statue of Queen, for them it would be a manifestation of the deepest contempt. In addition, the shoulders of Nefertiti truncated vertically, which is more typical of the style of «modern», than an Egyptian sculpture. And the main evidence - none of the archaeologists who worked together with Borchardt, where the bust was found, no mention about this product.
It is believed that the bust of Nefertiti was established around 1347 BC. Recently, German scientists discovered that under a queen hides another picture - that is, someone changed the sculpture to make it more like a Nefertiti. The exact date of creation of the work can not be - a stone, which made the bust, covered with plaster mixture. The only thing we said about the age of sculpture - it paints: they are really old. But according to Shtirlina, Ludwig Borchardt nothing worthwhile to get this ancient egyptian paint and ask them to use the Marks.
Egypt has long been trying to return the sculptures to their homeland, but the German authorities refused to grant her even at the exhibition. In October, Nefertiti will move to the New Museum in Berlin, which is now closed for renovation.
