«Leonardo and France», the castle-CLAUD Lyuse

On the last years of the life of the great Leonardo da Vinci in the French town of AMBOISE tell exhibition at the Castle CLAUD-Lyuse
  • Leonardo yes Vinchi

Nearly five centuries ago, an Italian artist and inventor, is not experiencing the most successful period in his career, went on a trip through the Alps in length and five miles. He walked on foot and horseback riding on a donkey in a small town on the bank of the Loire, accompanied by two loyal satellites, with three artist vez his paintings. These canvases later became famous, and one of them even become very loud the title of most famous paintings of all time. This artist was Leonardo da Vinci (Leonardo da Vinci).

lost its former popularity in their homeland, in 1516 at the invitation of Francis I, he arrived in AMBOISE, where it reacted to a king. Da Vinci was at the disposal of solid annual allowance and a castle-CLAUD Lyuse, where he could «ponder, work and dream». Nearby was a royal Chateau d'Ambuaz, and because His Majesty has often come to visit Leonardo on pedestrian subway connecting the two buildings. After becoming court painter, philosopher and architect, da Vinci lived in a new place just three years. He died in 1519, according to legend - in the hands of the king, which he loved and respected (in fact there is documentary evidence that Francis I at that time was on a trip). Leonardo was buried in the castle AMBOISE, and two of his three paintings, which he made a journey through the Alps (one of them - the famous «Mona Lisa») is now stored in the Paris Louvre. All this gives the French the right to proudly call it his compatriot. However, the relationship between da Vinci and France, is rarely remembered outside the country.

It is possible that this situation will soon change thanks to the castle CLAUD-Lyuse, which now houses a museum and park by Leonardo da Vinci, who could become the world's first «intellectual and cultural theme park». The main purpose of museum - to attract visitors ranging from tourists and school groups to professors who are able to unravel the «real Da Vinci Code»: the mystery of his versatile and diverse talents. Indeed, Leonardo was not only an artist but also a poet, musician, philosopher, mathematician, engineer, architect, anatomy and botany.

This summer, June 24 at the Castle CLAUD-Lyuse opened an exhibition entitled «Leonardo and France». On display will include drawings of the late master, kept in different collections, which for the first time in almost five years to return to where they were made. People waiting for a lot of interesting things. They will be able to inspect the park, who last summer turned into a «garden of Leonardo». It was planted about 300 different species of plants mentioned in the records of the artist or a picture on his canvases. In addition, in the castle and around it have already placed the reconstruction of mechanical devices designed by Leonardo. This prototype helicopters and tanks, bicycles, swing bridge, catamaran, as well as airplane and a parachute. Probably surprised the visitors, and another exhibit. Especially for the upcoming exhibition organizers decided after five centuries, the newly re-establish one of the most unusual inventions great master - a mechanical lion in size, which was specially made for King Francis I. He could walk and move, open his chest, and then there was a bouquet of lilies - colors of the French kings. Director of the lock-CLAUD Lyuse and adjacent park Saint-Francois Bry (Francois Saint Bris) called this invention a «special» Leonardo da Vinci, for which even christened his «someone like George Lucas beginning of the XVI century».

Visitors can inspect a bedroom of Leonardo, which now looks the same as during the lifetime of the artist. Almost no change, even in view of the royal castle, which Leonardo painted in 1517.

In May, CLAUD-Lyuse open studio for children, where they will be able to get an update on da Vinci's ideas and their influence on the art and science in the next century. In the next two years, also plans to convert a nearby derelict industrial building in the library of works of Leonardo: there will be «virtual gallery» with high-quality reproductions of seventeen surviving paintings by Leonardo, as well as a special laboratory, where with the help of high-tech achievements will be studying the master in the field of scientific discovery , engineering and architecture.

Among future plans is also known as a museum restoration of the interior of XVI century in one room, converted in the XVIII century. This room served as the workshop of Leonardo before. It was here that he worked on his inventions, and it was here, according to testimony in the corner there was a «Mona Lisa», on which from time to time, the artist resumed its work without finding a final meet in any of the options.

«CLAUD-Lyuse unique - says Saint-François Bry. - Nowhere in the world is no longer such a place of residence in which Leonardo was known to so many. We would like to see our museum became one of the main attractions, where you can review and examine the achievements of one of the greatest minds and multifaceted, ever. We hope that CLAUD-Lyuse become one of the most important places in Europe, which will explore all aspects of the Renaissance, from music to science, from Leonardo and Machiavelli and Shakespeare ».
