According to the London Gazette Times, recently the Dutch police found eight paintings stolen in 1987 from the gallery Noortman of Maastricht. The authors of the stolen works - Pierre-Auguste Renoir (Pierre-Auguste Renoir), Camille Pissarro (Camille Pissarro), Eva Gonzales (Eva Gonzales), David Teniers (David Teniers), Willem van de Velde, Jr. (Willem van de Velde, Jr. ), Jan Bruegel, Jr. (Jan Brueghel the Younger) and Paul Désiré Truyber (Paul Desiré Trouillebert). The investigation, which was held following the disappearance of paintings, to no avail, and the owner of the gallery Noortman Robert (Robert Noortman) received from the insurance company to compensate 2.8 million dollars.
In December last year, the private detective Ben Zeydema (Ben Zuidema), participated in the investigation of twenty-two years ago, learned that Dubai is preparing to deal - a mediator suggested the company, payments for compensation for the painting, to redeem them for 5 million euro. Zeydema shared information with police, and they organized an operation on the introduction.
It turns out that the six have been hidden in the town of Valkenburg in the south of the country, and two more - located in the vicinity of his village Valem. Police managed to arrest the three suspects: 45-year-old German living in Dubai, its 62-year-old mother and 66-year-old resident Valema. Their names have not yet been disclosed.
According to Ben Zeydemy, in 1987, were stolen not eight, and nine paintings, but one of them, he believed, was destroyed by Robert Noortmanom, which from the beginning suspected of involvement in crime. The point is that the works were stolen almost immediately after the dealer bought and insured them. «Stolen - then sold to», - he said then. Representatives of the gallery have not commented on statements by the detective.
According to police, two pictures of those that were found to be in very poor condition. They have long been kept in the folded form.
Robert Noortman died two years ago. Shortly before his death, the gallery, which specializes in the works of old masters and artists of the XIX century, bought the auction house Sotheby's.
