The new building of the Hermitage Amsterdam will open June 20
«Amstelhof», a new building a branch of the Hermitage Amsterdam will open to the public after restoration Jun 20, 2009. On the same day, the building will begin exhibition «Russian imperial court» and Festival «White night». That was reported by RIA Novosti.
«Amstelhof» holds two large and forty-two small rooms. The total area of the museum is nine thousand square meters.
After the exhibition «Russian imperial court», who have worked until 31 January 2010, the State Hermitage Museum in Amsterdam will bring projects on Alexander the Macedonian and the art of XX century. Now «Amstelhof» will take on two major exhibitions a year.
Before the opening of «Amstelhofa» Dutch branch of the Hermitage was located at the Villa «Neerlandiya».
In addition to the Amsterdam branch of St. Petersburg Museum has exhibition center in the center of Kazan and the «Hermitage-Italy» Italian in Ferrara.
