In the Municipal Council of the London area Sautvork recently received an updated draft restructuring of the building the gallery Tate Modern. To prepare his famous architects Jacques Herzog (Jacques Herzog) and Pierre de Meron (Pierre de Meuron) took into account the amendments to the terms of reference, consulted with the artists and curators, and upgraded the project to create a new Museum of the XXI century. The foundation design will serve as the oil tanks, the former power station, in a room which is Tate Modern. They will be saved, but they will be erected a new building.
Changes to the plan of construction, partly due to the need to establish a route from the Millennium Bridge across the territory occupied by Tate Modern, until Sautvorka. The architects also took into account wishes to combine the old and new buildings. The facade of the new buildings, as well as wall power, will be made of bricks in the form of a lattice frame, in the cells of which the evening will be lit windows museum. The new building will be more compact than that provided for the previous project, and its configuration will be more universal.
Advanced project involves a on more economical and environmentally friendly buildings than its predecessor. The new building will consume 54 percent less energy, and emissions will be as much as 44 percent less. The restructuring will also help solve many existing problems. Building Tate Modern, originally designed for 2 million people now attend more than 5 million, and on weekends and holidays the museum is just too crowded. In addition to the works of contemporary art requires specially equipped facilities, and things from the store, which simply nowhere «to show», require an additional exhibition spaces.
Construction of the new Tate Modern building is scheduled for completion in 2012. Its prognostic value is 21.5 million pounds. The Government has already allocated 50 million Tate Gallery of pounds, and another 25 million have already been obtained from other sources.
