The budget of many newspapers and magazines did not allow them to buy photos of the authors and are therefore increasingly using images obtained free of charge

According to Agency France-Presse, last weekend more than 200 members of the Union of French photographers, estimated 1 600 people staged a demonstration at the Paris Salon Photos. They were protesting against the current policy of the media who published photos of unknown authors, signed DR, (droits réservés, or «rights reserve»). Previously, they did so very rarely, only when the photographer found it was impossible, but now such practices are completely and a number. The point is that in the current economic crisis, French finance magazines and newspapers «sing ballads», and therefore they try to fully use the photos, which may be obtained free of charge. The works, which are labeled DR, mostly distributed to municipal administration, municipal administration and the press services of various companies. Incidentally, the commercial establishment does not legally have the right to distribute this photo, not protected by copyright.

«Photography now is a crisis - said president of the Union CLAUD Pierre (Pierre Clot). - Many specialized magazines can not afford to buy pictures».

It warns that if the media will continue to publish, free images, a professional photographer faces a great danger. «If the photographers will no longer have income, they simply disappear». Nevertheless, participants of the fair Paris Photo, which took place from 13 to 16 November, saying that the market photography alive and kicking - the work that they were selling, differed quite a good idea.
