In honor of the opening of the museum organized the exhibition «The Museum of Islamic Art through the eyes of the people of Qatar». It will run until 20 December. It will display 120 photos, which show different stages of construction of the museum. His work for the exhibition provided nine Qatari photographers.
Members of the royal family of Qatar Al-Thani has long proved to be serious collectors of works of art, antiques and ancient artifacts: Shaikh Saud Bin Muhammad Bin Ali Al-Thani (SheikhSaudbinMuhammadbinAlialThani) even on the list of Top-10 art collectors in the world according to the magazine ArtNews .
November 23, the museum will host a discussion «Islamic architecture: tradition and modernity», which will be the honorary guest of IM Pei.
