From New York Howard Greenberg Gallery stolen photographs of Salvador Dali made famous by Philippe Halsmanom. Relatives of the photographer require a compensation for the galleries missing work

New York Gallery Howard Greenberg, might have to pay a large sum of relatives of famous photographer Philippe Halsmana (Philippe Halsman). In 2004, the widow of the photographer handed over to the gallery many of his works. In April 2007, the gallery announced that the 44 photographs, 41 of which had been established in collaboration with the famous Spanish Surrealism of Salvador Dali were stolen. Recently, a daughter and two grandchildren, the photographer had a claim in federal court of Manhattan. They believe that works in the gallery poorly guarded. Howard Greenberg, might be forced to pay them 684 thousand dollars (the cost of photos), plus compensation for damages.

Philippe Halsman (1906-1979) was famous for his photographs of celebrities: Albert Einstein (Albert Einstein), John F. Kennedy (John F. Kennedy), Winston Churchill (Winston Churchill), Alfred Hitchcock (Alfred Hitchcock), Marilyn Monroe (Marilyn Monroe), and others. In the late 1940's many Halsman worked with Salvador Dali. Together they created a «surreal» portraits of the artist. In fact, the famous of them - «Atomic Dali» - painter, his paintings (including the «Atomic Leda»), chairs, water and cat hang in the air.
