Collector fight for the authenticity of the picture

According to The East Valley Tribune, Joan Rodgers (Joan Rodgers), an agent for the sale of real estate from the city of Scottsdale in Arizona, announced that it has a genuine work of Jackson Pollock (Jackson Pollock).

In 1969, Rogers, then selling antiques bought at auction in the King-of-Prasha (Pennsylvania), Jackson Pollock painting entitled F /II. The work was done in the technique of «spreading», which was famous for this and the American expressionist. Its size - 116.84 x 81.28. The painting was signed by Jackson Pollock and worth 900 dollars. Joan Rogers has a picture on the expertise of the New York gallery Parke Bernet, and tamoshny head of contemporary art brought her to the gallery Marlborough, that looked at the picture of Pollock's widow Lee Krasner (Lee Krasner).

According to Rogers, she agreed to meet with Krasner Gallery in Marlborough, but the artist has not appeared. Rogers left the picture in the gallery and left. When she returned the next day, it has already waited three people who provided the Friends of the District Attorney of New York. They told Rogers that was investigating a case of forgery of works of art, was asked about how she turned out to be the work of Jackson Pollock, and confiscated the picture and promised to return it when it closed.

But its picture of Rogers never saw. In 1974, she met journalist George Dzhokasa (George Giokas), who promised to help her return to work. The journalist, calling to their friends in the office of District Attorney, the case quickly smoothed over, and soon Joan Rogers was able to pick up the picture. Later it was discovered that the work of someone made in the catalog, the artist reasons, released in 1978.

Work to be in the catalog describes as «incidental Etude», mentioned in the section on «incorrect attribution». About it says only that it «is not signed and dated». According to Rogers, she tried to contact members of the committee that prepared the publication of the directory to find out from them why they attributed it to a fake picture. «They have not responded to my call», - it is fast. Representatives of The East Valley Tribune tried to reach the members of the committee, but so far their attempts have been unsuccessful.

In 1993, Joan Rogers sued the committee, Marlborough Gallery, and Lee Krasner Foundation. Because of the fact that the painting was entered in the blacklist, Rogers was unable to sell it. The District Court of New York dismissed her suit because the limitation period has long expired.

But Joan Rogers did not give up. In his quest to prove the authenticity of F /II, she turned to the experts on forensic medicine. She has spent thousands of dollars to various studies, none of which has not been able to confirm the authenticity of the work or refute it. Now Rogers is waiting for the results of the analysis, which was Peter Paul Biro (Peter Paul Biro) from Montreal. Biro argues that it is possible to judge the authenticity of works based on the fingerprint data. But the picture of F /II, he found no fingerprints, and is now conducting chemical analysis of paint pigments. «I was very frustrating, having to wait so long - the owner of said work. - But I believe that this is Jackson Pollock, and [the picture. - Ed. ] will be rehabilitated».
