Abramovich will fund an exhibition Kabakov

Russian billionaire has agreed to finance Russia's first retrospective of Ilya and Emilia Kabakov. The exhibition will take place at several venues, one of which will become the center of modern culture «garage»

According to Bloomberg.com, English billionaire Roman Abramovich has decided to fund Russia's first retrospective of renowned artists Ilya and Emilia Kabakov , which will be held in Moscow from September 15 to October 15.

The exhibition will be presented to more than 150 paintings, drawings and objects. It will be held at three venues: the State Museum of Fine Arts named after AS Pushkin, the Center for Contemporary Art «Winery» and Center for Contemporary Culture« garage », whose founder is a friend of Abramovich, Daria Zhukova .

In April it became known that the main sponsor of the exhibition will become a fund owned by another Russian billionaire, Mikhail Prokhorov, but June 5, Prochorov abandoned those plans .

In February this year Ilya Ilya Kabakov became the author of the most expensive among the living Russian artists. His work «Bug» (1982) was sold at London auction Phillips de Pury & Co. for 2.9 million pounds (5.8 million dollars). In ranking the most expensive works of Russian artists «beetle» took ninth place .
