Capitol wolf, the famous bronze sculpture was created in the XIII century AD and not in the V century BC. This conclusion has a group of researchers from the University of Salerno, headed by Professor Adriano La Regina, in the past - a major Roman officer for cultural heritage. From the XVIII century, when the Capitol wolf described the largest German art historian Johann Winkelman, this sculpture thought to be Etruscan. Authorship small statues of Romulus and Rem was known documented: they are made at the end of XV century Florentine artist Antonio del Pollayolo. In the XIX century, tried to challenge the assumption Winkelman at least two scientists thought wolf later medieval work, but the authority of the father of modern archeology has been so great that in his opinion continued to listen.

In 2006, Karroubi, Anna Maria (Anna Maria Carruba), a specialist in metallurgy, restored Capitol wolf, revealed their findings: in its view, the sculpture could not do before VIII - X centuries. The point is that in antiquity did not know how to pour large statue of the whole: they are made in installments, and then welded. Same wolf was made immediately and fully.
