Coming soon in Moscow a new gallery, which will display works of modern art. It is located in the former bus depot building, built in 1927, a famous architect-constructivists Konstantin Melnikov. The project has a 26-year-old Dasha Zhukova, girlfriend billionaire Roman Abramovich.
Zhukova, who also is a fashionable business, enthusiastically spoke about their desire to bring to Moscow the work of contemporary art from around the world. She said that the Center will help «to establish a dialogue with the Russians the audience», and adds: «We hope to attract to our gallery as many people as possible, including those who are not yet familiar with contemporary art».
In an exclusive interview to The Art Newspaper Zhukov reported that the Center for Contemporary Culture in Moscow (CCC Moscow) will open its doors in September of this year. The first thing that visitors will be able to see there - the retrospective of Ilya and Emilia Kabakov. This will be the first retrospective of the artists in their hometown. The exhibition will take place in three buildings.
The Center will host large-scale installations, which in Russia have not yet seen. Zhukov said that the depot Melnikova (area 7 896.5 sq. km. M) is ideal for such works as «red car», a huge installation Kabakov 1991, Zhukov called «Work-icon». «Depot Melnikova - this is a fantastic place. Depot Melnikova belongs to the State. For 49 years, there were firm Federation of Jewish Communities, and in 2002 the building was closed for restoration. Its transformation in the art gallery managed by London architect Jamie Fobert, the creator of the giant Frieze Tent for Contemporary Art Fair in Ridzhents Park.
Center for Contemporary Culture - a non-profit organization. Its creators will be the fundraising and finding sponsors abroad.
Information on how much has been spent on the center and how much money will be needed in the future, is not disclosed. «It is not yet possible to name the exact figure», - said Zhukov. According to Dasha Zhukova, one of the main goals of the Center for Contemporary Culture, will be the development of educational programs. «We will be here to encourage teachers lead their students. The Center is located in the library, where you will find books on art, cafe and lecture hall for performances and artists of the conference.
Molly Dent-Broklherst said that the Center will order a special installation artists, designed to display only one site, «as in the turbine hall of Tate Modern». It will put the young Russian artists. «We will have two sets of galleries. And while there will be a number of projects ».

Post Dent-Broklherst is likely to be called the «International Director». It is going to come to Moscow «at least once a month». Now Daria Zhukova is in search of directors, which would have been able to work in the gallery all the time. According to her, she plans to «hold a majority of the time».
