In 2007 the world's auction of works of Andy Warhol were sold at 420 million dollars, with 74 works of this American artist went under the hammer at least a million dollars each. The absolute record set picture «green car accident», sold at Christie's for 64 million.

Next in popularity among collectors of the artist - Pablo Picasso. His works have been carried out for the year amounting to 319.7 million dollars, informs Bloomberg referring to the company's annual report on the state of the art Artprice market. For comparison: in 2006, Warhol achieved sales of 199.6 million dollars, and Picasso - 339.7 million dollars.

Third-artist record was Francis Bacon, whose works were sold for a total amount of 244.5 million dollars (seven paintings went under the hammer for more than ten million each).

The most successful living artist was Gerhard Richter: 85.9 million dollars.

In total world sales of works of art has reached 9.2 billion dollars, an increase of 18 per cent more than in 2006. 1 254 lots were sold for amounts in excess of one million dollars. Artprice experts expect that the outcome of 2008 will be far less worrisome: the economic crisis can not affect the state of the art market.
