From the family of an employee of river transport. Original art education in the drawing school А. О. Карелина in Nizhny Novgorod. He studied at the Kazan art school (1906-1912) Г. А. Медведева, Н. И. Фешина, П. П. Бенькова in St. Petersburg (Petrograd): at the Higher art school of painting, sculpture and architecture under the Imperial Academy of arts (1912-1916) П. Е. Мясоедова, В. В. Беляева in the workshop Н. Н. Дубовского (1914), State free art educational workshops (1921-1922) А. А. Рылова. he Lived in Moscow (1923). Worked primarily as a landscape painter. In 1930-50-х repeatedly went to work in the Urals, North Caucasus, on the Volga river, the Oka river, the Chusovaya river and Vyatka. The author of landscape: "In the woods" (1918), "the Sun sets" (1925), "On the Volga" (1932), "Volga field" (1937), "Spring" (1940), "On the river Chusovaya" (1944), "Ural landscape", "Sunny October", "Rye field" (all — 1949) and other; thematic paintings: "the Red army on the labour front" (1928), "Leaving on a collective farm North" (1931), "the Shipyard red Sormovo", "The rolling mill" (early 1930-х).

From 1915 — participant of exhibitions (exhibition of paintings of the Tambov society of arts). A member and Exhibitor AHRR — akhr (1924-1931, member of the since 1923). Exhibited associations: "the Association of artists" in Petrograd (1916), society of travelling art exhibitions in Moscow (1923). Participant of exhibitions: "the Red Army" (1923), "Red Army in Soviet art, Socialist construction in Soviet art" (both — 1930), reporting of works by artists, seconded to the regions of the industrial building and collective farms, "the Art of the third, decisive year of the five-year plan" (both — 1931), "Caricature in the service of socialist construction" (1932), "XV years of the red army" (1933), all-Union art exhibitions (1939, 1945-1947, 1949-1951) in Moscow, "Artists of the RSFSR for XV years" in Leningrad and Moscow (1932-1934) and others. The Exhibitor of several foreign exhibitions, including a traveling exhibition of Soviet art in Japan (1926-1927; Harbin, Tokyo, Aomori, Osaka, Nagoya), the exhibition artists of the akhr art-промышленной exhibition in Cologne (1929), exhibitions of Soviet art in königsberg (1932).

he Taught at the Moscow art College of memory 1905 года (1930-е), Moscow Institute of applied and decorative art (1949-1951), the Moscow higher art and-промышленном school (1952); Professor (from 1950). For his activities he was awarded the title of honored art worker of the RSFSR (1959).
