From the priest's family; brother of the architect П. А. Голосова. Studied at the Central Stroganov school of technical drawing (1898-1908), MUZHVZ (1907-1912), the Higher art school of painting, sculpture and architecture at Imperial Academy of arts (1912-1915). During his studies he worked as assistant to architects Л. М. Браиловского, И. С. Кузнецова, С. У. Соловьева, А. В. Иванова, А. А. Остроградского, А. В. Щусева, И. Э. Грабаря. Performed measurements of architectural monuments for publication "History of Russian architecture" and the magazine "Old years".

he Lived in Moscow. Completed projects and built mansions Zimin in kirzach (1912) and Zuev in Moscow (1913). Created projects of several apartment houses and churches. In 1914 he was called up for military service; until 1918 was engaged in the construction of buildings to the rear.

From 1918 работал under the leadership И. В. Жолтовского in the architectural Studio of the Moscow city Council; participated in the development of the first plan of reconstruction of Moscow, in contests for low-rise residential houses, various social and economic structures. Performed independently and in collaboration with other architects projects of buildings: radio station (1921), a horse breeding farm in Ostankino (1922), the Palace of labour (1923), the newspaper Leningrad Pravda (1924), joint-stock company "Arcos" (1924), "Home textiles" (1925, together with Б. Улиничем; first prize), the Moscow Telegraph (1925, together with Б. Улиничем), Smolensky market (1926), "Rosvertola" (1926), "Elektrobank" (1926), film Studio (1927), sports society "Dynamo" (1928), trusts and military industry (1929), the Palace of Soviets (1932) in Moscow, theatre in Rostov-на-Дону (1925), a textile factory in Vyazniki (1926, together with Б. Миттельманом and engineer С. Прохоровым), the House of Soviets in Alma-Ате (1927), pumping stations of Azneft (1928), the regional consumer Union in Ivanovo-Вознесенске (1929-1930), hotels in Sverdlovsk (1930) and others.

Among the completed projects: the pavilion of the Far East at the agricultural exhibition (1923 did not survive), the House of culture. С. М. Зуева (1926-1928), the hotel "the Society for proletarian tourism and excursions" (1934, together with Д. Д. Булгаковым), houses on Maleevskoy (now — Dolgorukovskaya) street (1934-1936), Yauzsky Boulevard (1936-1941), the building of the Higher school of trade Union (1938) in Moscow, government House in Elista (1928-1932), the residential quarter of the Gorky automobile plant (1937). Recent projects (house on Yauzsky Boulevard) in the style of ar-деко.

he Taught in VKhUTEMAS — Vhuteine (1921-1930), where together with К. И. Мельниковым he headed the architectural workshop, Moscow architectural Institute (1930-1945).

he was Buried at Novodevichy cemetery in Moscow.

Votes — is one of the leading representatives of constructivism in Soviet architecture. His designs emphasized the inherent-динамические solutions, the use of simple forms — cube, cuboid, cylinder, shifted geometric volumes. Grounded their ideas in the theory of "architectural body" which emerged in the years of teaching.
