From the family of a naval officer. He studied at the Imperial Academy of arts as a student volnoslushayuschego (1858-1867) in the class of historical painting. For student work awarded to small (1863, 1864) and large (1865, 1866) silver medals. In 1867 for the program "Death of Oleg," received the title of class artist of 2-й degree.

Lived in St. Petersburg, Kursk (1873), Obojan and Belgorod (1910-е). Worked as a historical painter, genre painter, landscape painter. In 1863-1864 he was a member of the artel of artists in St. Petersburg, which also consisted of В. М. Максимов, А. А. Киселев and others. Author of painting works: "View from the outskirts of the village Leontieva in the Novgorod province", "the Return from Calvary", "the Halt of the Gypsies" and others. In the early 1890-х presented to the Council of the Imperial Academy of arts sketch for the painting "Flammarion. The approach of the earth to the constellation of Hercules," but the title was not awarded.

Participated in exhibitions in the halls of the Imperial Academy of arts (1864-1874, with breaks). Member of-учредитель Kursk and Exhibitor of the Association of artists (1909).

he Taught at the district school of the town of Bykhov, Mogilev province (1868-1874), real school Kursk (1874-1898).

Works are in several Museum collections, including the Science-исследовательском Museum of the Russian Academy of arts.
