From a merchant family; grandson of an icon painter. In 1890-е worked as an actor in provincial theaters, 1898-1904 — in the Mat; played the role of Satin in the play М. Горького "the day", Peter in the play Л. Н. Толстого "the Power of darkness" and others. In those same years he began to study drawing, modeling, photography. Participated in exhibitions in favour of the auxiliary Fund of the Moscow society of lovers of fine arts (1901) and the Moscow fellowship of artists (1903).

In 1902 he made a trip to Paris and decided to devote himself to sculpture. From 1904 he lived permanently in Paris in 1906, he was awarded a scholarship from С. Т. Морозова; worked under the guidance of Л. С. Синаева-Бернштейна and Ж.-А. Энжальбера. From 1906 — apprentice and assistant О. Родена.

he Worked primarily as a portraitist; worked fine porcelain sculptures. In 1900-х — 1910-х completed portraits К. С. Станиславского (1902, plaster, bronze), А. М. Горького (1904, marble), Ф. И. Шаляпина (1907, bronze), А. Н. Скрябина (1908, bronze), Л. В. Собинова (1909, plaster, bronze), О. Родена (1910, bisque); figure of the "Satyr" (1905, bronze), "Satyr and Bacchante" (1905, marble), "Gladiator", "Reflection", "the Thinker", "Youth" (all — 1909, marble), the symbolic series "Monsters" (1906-1909, bronze).

In 1913 he sang for the Imperial porcelain factory figurines artists Т. П. Карсавиной, Л. В. Собинова, К. С. Станиславского in the frame, Anna Pavlova starring Bacchantes, Giselle, Swan.

Since 1922 was often in the USA, where he had a lot of orders, in particular, have created a series of garden statues for the Minister of Finance Э.-У. Мэллона. In 1920-х visited the Studio Л. Деляшеналя at the sèvres porcelain manufactory. In 1930-х focused on ceramics. Performed animal figurines, decorative dishes.

He exhibited his works at the National society of fine arts in Paris (1910, 1911, 1914, 1921), Salon С. К. Маковского (1909), exhibitions of Russian art in Paris and Berlin (1906), the Russian divisions of international exhibitions in Venice (1907), Munich (1909), Rome (1911). Participated in the XII international exhibition of art in Venice (1920), exhibition of Russian artists in the Paris gallery "Dense" (1921). Assisted in the preparation of a traveling exhibition of Russian art in the United States (1924-1925). His personal exhibitions were held in new-Йорке (1923), Paris (1931, 1934, 1939), San-Франциско (1935).

Sudbinin Works are in many Museum collections, including the State Tretyakov gallery, the State Russian Museum, the State Central theater Museum im. А. А. Бахрушина, the Museum of decorative arts in Paris, the Museum of ceramics in Sevres and others.
