Studied in Odessa drawing school (1888-1893), then - in the Superior Art School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture at IAH (1893-1900), first on a beautiful office in 1897 - in the studio V. Mate, under whose leadership mastering different techniques of engraving. In 1900 he was awarded the title of the artist's etchings.

lived in St. Petersburg (Petrograd). Worked in the field of reproduction and the author easel engravings (mostly in the form of etchings), book and magazine illustrations, applied graphics. Served as an illustration, theatrical posters for St. Petersburg's magazines "Spectator", "Masks", "The Light" and others, worked in the newspaper "Rus". Created series of illustrations for "Tales of" Gogol. From 1898 - participant of exhibitions. In 1909-1910 he taught at the Drawing School Society for the Encouragement of Arts.

Gerardova works are in museum and private collections, including the State Russian Museum, Pushkin Museum im. Pushkin and others.
