He studied at the Higher Art School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture at IAH (1904-1911) at the DN Kardovsky, in 1911 received the title of the artist's painting "Rebecca and Eleazar.

lived in St. Petersburg (Petrograd, Leningrad). He worked as a landscape painter, created the paintings on mythological and Biblical subjects.

Member and exponential associations "Community of Artists" (1921-1922, 1925), "Association of Artists" (1922), "Sixteen" (1922, 1924, 1927). Participated in the 1-st state free exhibition of works of art (1919), exhibition of artists in all areas of Petrograd (1923), the Jubilee Exhibition of Fine Arts (1927) in St. Petersburg - Leningrad and others.

taught at the Leningrad Institute of Painting, architecture and sculpture from 1932 - Head of Faculty of Painting, in 1934 - the department of painting professor. Killed in besieged Leningrad.
