born in a military family. He studied at the Cadet Corps in Omsk. In 1823 he entered the Artillery School in St. Petersburg. In 1827 due to illness, was forced to resign. In 1831-1832, together with SS Pimenov and VI Demuth-Malinovsky designed the arch of the Narva Triumphal Gate, for which the six horses in a chariot of Glory. In 1838, for the sculptural group "Horse with Charioteer" was awarded the title of academician and foundry master, at the same time appointed as head of the foundry shop of the Academy. In the same year he became a professor of sculpture. In 1838 was commissioned to create the sculptural decoration Anichkov Bridge - Handlers of horses. Klodt in 1852 became a member of the Academy of St. Luke in Rome. From 1842 to 1854 he taught at the Drawing School of the Society to promote artists in the class of electroforming. In 1844-1852 took part in the sculptural decoration of St. Isaac's Cathedral, in 1845-1850 - "service houses" of the Marble Palace in St. Petersburg, 1844-1845 - George Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace, in 1858-1860 - Cathedral of Christ the Savior Cathedral in Moscow . In 1848-1855 he worked on the monument to Ivan Krylov in St. Petersburg. In 1856-1859, together with NA Ramazanova and RK Zalemanom has created a monument to Nicholas I. In 1858 he was awarded the title of Distinguished Professor, from 1859 taught at the full-scale class IAH. In the same year he became a corresponding member of Academy of Fine Arts in Paris.
