From a family of craftsman. He studied in St. Petersburg — Petrograd on private architecture courses Е. Ф. Багаевой (1911), at the architecture faculty of the Polytechnic Institute (1914) in Petrograd state free art educational workshops (1917-1921) and in VKhUTEMAS — Vhuteine (1922-1925) М. Г. Манизера. 1926 — wife М. Г. Манизера. Combined studies with work assistant theatrical decorator and certainity; participated in archaeological expeditions in Bakhchisarai, Kerch, Kherson.

I Lived in St. Petersburg (Petrograd, Leningrad) and Moscow. Worked in monumental-декоративной, Park and memorial sculpture, sculpture of small forms. Served portraits, compositions, medals and bas-reliefs mainly on the topic of sports and ballet. Participated in a design competition for a monument В. И. Ленину at the Finland station (1924, fifth prize), in the sculptural design of Gorky Park. С. М. Кирова in Leningrad (1930-е), the State library. В. И. Ленина in Moscow (1930-е), underground stations of the Moscow metro "Dynamo" (1937), "Serpukhovskaya" (1950).

Created a series of seven sculptures on the theme of "Swan lake", "the fountain of Bakhchisarai", "Romeo and Juliet", "Egyptian nights" (1934-1937). Completed statues for the Leningrad porcelain factory (1950-е: "sitting ball", "ball Cape", "Zarema with mirror", "Zarema with a dagger", and "sitting Mary", "Mary with the scarf" and others); some of them were later cast in iron and duplicated Kasli and Kusa plants (1950-80-е). In 1950-60-е performed gravestones ballet В. Д. Тихомирова, Л. М. Лавровского, actor И. Н. Берсенева.

From 1925 — participant of exhibitions (exhibition of final works of students of the Leningrad Academy of arts). A member and Exhibitor AHRR — akhr (1926-1929, with breaks; member since 1925). Participated in the exhibition "Art of movement" (1927) in Moscow, the anniversary exhibitions of fine arts, theatre-декорационного art (both — 1927), "Modern Leningrad artistic groups" (1928-1929) in Leningrad and others. His personal exhibitions were held in Leningrad (1940, together with А. Н. Самохваловым), Moscow (1958).

he Taught at the Moscow Institute of applied and decorative arts (1947-1952). For his creative and teaching was awarded the title of honored art worker of the RSFSR.

Works are in several Museum collections, including the State Tretyakov gallery.
