In late 1890 - early 1900's he studied at the physico-mathematical faculty of Moscow University and graduated in 1903. At the same time engaged in painting and drawing at the Studio NA Martynov, and VN Meshkov School (1900-1903). In 1904-1907 continued his education at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts, where he studied under the direction of GF Gabermana studied the technique of engraving.

lived in Moscow and Leningrad. He worked in the field of easel painting and book illustrations, was engaged in engraving. In his early works (1900-e) was close to the masters of the Union of Russian Artists. I drew for the magazine "Northern Lights" (1908), "Sparrow" and "New Robinson (1923-1925). He has designed several books published by the Symbolists "Grif". In May 1908 he was invited to the studio of graphic arts at the central Stroganov School of Industrial Art, led the course of etching.
