he Received his legal education in Russia. He studied at the Kyiv drawing school Н. И. Мурашко. Traveled extensively in Europe. In the early 1900-х settled in Paris with his cousin, the artist of Baroness Е. Эттинген (Francois Anibu). He continued his education at the Academy Р. Жюльена I У. Бугро.

From 1906 he exhibited his works at the Salon of French artists under the pseudonym Rudnev; first works have received a positive response М. Дени. In 1910 met П. Пикассо, Ж. Браком, А. Руссо, Х. Грисом, Г. Аполлинером. In 1911 on the advice of Apollinaire took the nickname Fera.

Passed through passion cubism and surrealism. Created as an abstract and figurative compositions. Author cubist works: "Mother and child", "Circus parade", "Attributes of music", "Gallant celebrations" (series) and others.

In 1913-1914, together with Apollinaire published the magazine Les soirées de Paris ("Paris nights"), where he led the art Department. In 1914 he volunteered to serve in the Italian hospital in Paris. In 1917, illustrated the surreal drama of Apollinaire's "the Breasts of Teresia (Chest Teresia)" and issued its statement at the Paris Conservatoire.

Worked in the Paris chronicle of the Russian "Udar" (early 1920-х). In 1930-х executed the cartoons for the tapestry manufactory of Beauvais. In 1949 participated in the design of the anthology "Poetry of unknown words", compiled И. М. Зданевичем and included poems В. В. Хлебникова, А. Е. Крученых, Т. Тцара, П. Элюара and others.

Participated in the group exhibition "the Golden section" (1920); was exhibited in Paris in the salons of Independent (up to 1928), Autumn (1924), galleries "Percier" (1938) and "Petit-Пале" (1938), exhibition of cubism at the Museum of modern art (1953); group exhibitions in Cologne, Chicago (1931), exhibition of Russian art in Prague (1935). His personal exhibitions were held in Paris (1917, 1938).

In his last years of artistic activity practically was not engaged.
