Svetoslavsky - one of the leading representatives of Ukrainian art in the second half of the XIX century. In his works performed successor of the traditions of Russian realistic landscape: he wrote the lyric species (predominantly rural nature), often enriching their animalistic or genre scenes, worked out the problem of coverage with a love of subtle coloristic effects. Rarely spoke to the urban landscape and landscape-marina.

Svetoslavskogo works are in many museum collections, including the State Tretyakov Gallery, State Museum of Ukrainian Art in Kiev and others.
