Style works by the artist decided to attribute to the lyrical expressionism. He depicts slack gauge roads, drunken men, women, and endless expanses of downy sky. Number of his works based on the beloved biblical scenes.

During perestroika Slepyshev tried to upgrade training of artists, recreating in Moscow "free art workshops" - the famous post-revolutionary model. He was invited to teach there by Mikhail Shvartsman, Alexei Tiapushkin, Igor Orlov, Alexei Kamensky. But this plan, unfortunately, has not been implemented.

After the failure of his project the artist in 1990 left the country and settled in Paris where he studied art began to detail the founders of French Impressionism, practically comparing the color of their system with their own understanding of landscape images. Often, he wrote as if just two paintings on one canvas: in the center - the Russian landscape, and on the edges - a wide patterned frame, reminiscent of paintings by Renoir.

France took about 30 of his personal exhibitions.

In 1996 he returned to Moscow, where he continued to work and exhibit.
