from a family of hereditary artists, son of a famous master of watercolor portrait of Peter Fedorovich Sokolov, brother artists Paul and Alexander Sokolov, the nephew K. Briullov. In 1948, Moscow hosted a retrospective exhibition of works by Sokolova from public and private collections.
