he Studied at the Moscow school of painting (graduated in 1917). He lived in Moscow. A member of the ASNOVA (Association of new architects, 1923-1932). 1929 — acting head of design Bureau of the Moscow System, 1930-1932 — head 4-м sector Mosproyekt, then worked in architectural-проектной workshop No. 11 Mosproyekt (Manager — М. В. Крюков).

as part of the creative group ASNOVA and Mosproyekt participated in the design of: Hauska-Шаболовского residential complex (1927-1930, along with Н. Н. Травиным), residential buildings of the cooperative "Fat-кость" ("1-е Zamoskvorechye"; 1928-1930, with Н. Н. Травиным, Г. Я. Вольфензоном, Е. Волковым), Malaya Tulskaya street (1929, with И. А. Звездиным, М. И. Мотылевым), "lower Presnya" in Shmidtovskiy proezd (1929-1931, О. А. Стапраном, Б. Я. Улиничем), Sharikopodshipnikovskaya street (1931-1933), residential building on the corner of Suschevsky shaft and Novoslobodskaya street; Dorogomilovskaya (1929-1930) and all saints (1929-1935) campuses, a campus in Anemophily grove (1929-1930; all — with Б. В. Гладковым and А. М. Зальцманом); cinema Mezhrabpomfilm on Mayakovsky square (early 1930-х, А. А. Кесслером). One of the pioneers of standard construction.

In the second half of 1930-х in collaboration with А. К. Буровым designed three series of large-block residential buildings: Velozavodskaya, Gross streets, Gorky street and Bolshaya Polyanka, Berezhkovskaya and Derbenevskaya quay. Participated in designing residential prefabricated houses on Leningrad prospect (1936-1940, artist — В. А. Фаворский).

After the great Patriotic war has moved away from practical architectural work and has focused on research and teaching activities. He taught at the Moscow architectural Institute. Author of textbooks: "the Architecture of large-block constructions" (Moscow, 1941), "materials and work" (M., 1962), "Technology of building manufacture" (M., 1963). Member of-корреспондент Academy of architecture of the USSR.
